Recently, Nekoin posted that they needed assistance with their new NFT market place. They gave detailed instructions and asked volunteers to interact with their site and then give feedback.

I jumped at the chance to help a new project and experience testnet.

Prior to this, I’d heard of testnet but never interacted with it in any way. Fortunately, it was easier than I thought it would be and actually quite fun.

Step 1: Switch MyAlgo wallet to testnet

In the top righthand corner of the MyAlgo wallet dashboard where it says mainnet is actually a dropdown menu where you can switch over to testnet.

Step 2: Get some test $ALGO

Before this, didn’t even know test Algos were a thing, but it makes perfect sense. There were two different testnet dispensers linked and I used them both with no problems.

Step 3: Connect wallet to the testnet version of the site

This was just as fast and easy as connecting to any other Algorand app that I’ve used so far.

Now the real fun begins, playing with kittens!

I became interested in Nekoin and their Paw Prints NFT market place because of their commitment to supporting nonprofits. Causes helping cats, dogs, other animals, and the environment are extremely valuable to me.

Paw Prints is going to be a huge benefit to the community, and here’s why:

  • The sample NFTs are FREAKING ADORABLE. The whole site looks great and I wish that Fruity Cat #1 could be mine forever.
  • Paw Prints is easy to use, fast, and responsive. Even on testnet, I was buying and selling in minutes. The hardest part was choosing a cat.
  • Creators and causes continue to earn. The payment structure ensures the artist and the nonprofit benefit from any future sales.

Give @NekoinASA a follow, adopt a shelter cat, and don’t be afraid of testnet!
