Algorand’s first beer based NFT series has some serious real life beer cred.

Michael C. Upton, the creator if DRINKITs, has over 20 years of experience photographing and writing about beer. He recently sat down with @RealMontyAllen to talk about their shared love of beer, how he got into Algorand, and what comes next for the project.

Drink up these DRINKIT details:

  • 96 DRINKITs have been minted
  • Four 6 Packs of NFTs have been released for Spring 2022, each including 4 Commons (5 of 5), 1 Rare (2 of 2), and 1 Unique (1 of 1).
  • Commons are designed for collecting, trading, or buying a beer for a friend.
  • Rares showcase the style and beauty of both beer and photography in a digital form with distinctive surroundings, beers no longer in production, or the artist’s favorites. (He’s tasted ALL of them!)
  • Uniques are the top tier, and may come with additional stories or descriptions based on previously published material.
  • All of the featured DRINKITs beers have been used in a story, review, or brewery update in print form.
  • Full commercial rights come along with your NFT and image.
  • The original source photos will eventually be burned or destroyed.

This project excited KryptoNurd so much that he was throwing out ideas left and right and brainstorming with DRINKITs creator, Michael during the interview:

  • Virtual tasting sessions or happy hours. More beer = more fun!
  • In-person beer drinking meetups in a central location like Chicago or even internationally.
  • A Beer of the Month club or NFT CSA distribution model.
  • The ability for people to “Home brewing” their own DRINKIT NFTs
  • Educational series (Nitro, Lambic) NFT, Style Series

Whether or not any of these make it onto the road map, it is clear that beer themed NFTs are a great source of inspiration and have the potential to capture a wide audience of people who are beer lovers, crypto enthusiasts, or both.
